Eligibility

  1. All members of your team must be an undergraduate college student with an associated institutional email.
  2. Teams must not exceed four people total.
  3. Each team may only submit one submission.
  4. All work submitted to Rice Design-a-thon must be original work. Any submissions with plagiarized work will be disqualified.
  5. You may not submit work previously designed before Rice Design-a-thon. All designs must be made between the dates of January 26th, 2024 to January 28th, 2024.
  6. Late submissions will not be accepted.
  7. If there are any adjustments made to your prototype after Sunday, January 28th 10:00 AM CST, your submission will not be considered for judging.

Judging Criteria and Winner Selection

All projects will be evaluated holistically based on the user experience, visual design, user research, and design thinking process. To view the rubric, click here.

Following the submission and evaluation of all projects, the top eight teams will be revealed as finalists on Sunday, January 28th, at 3 pm CST. All finalists are required to prepare a brief presentation, scheduled for 3:30 pm, during which the judges will assess and determine the top three teams.
